summer in cape town means late afternoons of perfect lighting combined with the most spectacular scenery - basically a photographers dream. to start off the new year i have decided to motivate myself by initiating a weekly photo journal on this blog; this allows for me to take time off from my busy schedule to go out and find some beautiful places to shoot.
this week i decided upon chapmans peak, the local mountain and scenic drive in hout bay. last night the wind was a gentle breeze, a perfect antidote to the boiling hot sun that just refused to set. i took my canon 60D and my 18-135mm lens up the mountain and spent two hours with nature.
the mountain has drastically changed in recent months due to some devastating fires across the cape peninsula. the lush greenery that used to cover the slopes has been replaced with a purple-grey coat, with tiny bursts of green starting to sprout through.
the perfect ending to evening was the setting of our vibrant red african sun.
